What bump stops should I run??

Keep in mind that I'm on a budget. I only plan on running about 4 or 5 inches of up travel, so I need a pump stop that will stop the travel but still give enough to take the shock out. I plan on running a single rate spring like a TJ or bronco coil so I can just run a really stiff second spring.

Not sure I understand, are you saying you are going to run a spring like for a bronco or TJ? Stock spring or lift spring? If you are wanting a cheap bump stop I can tell you from experience that the solid stops work but you can damn sure tell when you hit them. I have very little up travel and my rear stops take a beating when I am hauling ass (always Very Happy )

I use the stops on the rear that look like devo hats.

They work good but as I said you can tell when you are on them.

I have these at the house that I am going to put in there place to see how they work and last.

You can also use the bump stops that go on the shock shaft but I always felt that those just wear out shock bushings faster and I have seen them split.[/img]

If you are looking for a salvage yard part, I use rear bump stops off a ram 2500. I think thats what they came off. They look simalar to the ones in Peakaboo bottom pic except they dont have the side holes and they have two bolts.

I have those. They are pretty soft but the metal bends unless supported all the way across. Mine are mounted to a 2" square tube, and bent around it. If you support them all the way across they should be fine. Also look at Timbren bump stops. Search pirate, tons of tech. They come in any rate, from zuki to dump truck (they were designed for heavy equipment originally). They also have different lengths. There are so many different ones its hard to choose. Kinda like picking coil over springs. They have been described as a poor mans air bump. Im gonna get a set when I figure out what I need. I set my junk at 6" up travel, but the springs have sagged and I now have 4".

The ones in the pic above took an accidental jump off of a 4' or so concrete ledge at about 40. I gassed it but didnt have enough power (N20 soon!) to bring the nose up. When it landed it see-sawed back and forth a little bit, but took it and we kept going. One word of caution: they dont stop until a good inch past where they look like they should. My tie rod kissed my oil pan...

Anybody here have real world exp with the Timbrens?

Yes I'll be running a lift spring off a TJ or Bronco. I don't know what lift yet. I'll have to see what I need to get the necessary lift. My only concern is that if I run the 4" tall bump that will compress 3 inches under extreme conditions that only leaves me with 2" of up travel before it touches. Are they soft enough to still give while the suspension is just flexing?

Here's what I've found on the Timbren's. It looks like they recommend a A520-75 for use on a TJ. I'm reading on pirate that they should run around $30 a piece.
